I’m an optimist with a passion to innovate a better future. The only way we do this is by embracing “what is” and then working together toward a shared vision. I thrive in collaborative, dynamic settings where diversity and collective thought bring out the best ideas. I believe that technology floats all boats. We must leverage the Digital Age to power the future.
For me, design thinking is asking the right questions, digging to uncover pain points, and then placing small bets fast to prototype to a viable solution. Tough problems typically begin without clear answers, and it requires rolling up your sleeves. I thrive in the messiness of designing solutions that have maximum impact. Problems are opportunities.
Human-centered design begins from a deep understanding of the end-user. It relies on your ability to be intuitive and to recognize patterns, to construct ideas that are emotionally meaningful and functional too. Great HCD research requires the designer to be willing to step outside of his/her comfort zone and step into the shoes of the persona. Never forget the customer.
The best leaders inspire passion and imagination in others, and the best creative directors are effective at organizing workflows and creating communication channels that free team members to do what they do best. I tackle projects with a vision and then “chunk” the plan into digestible actions. A big idea is meaningless without execution.
What’s good for the world is good for all. Our values should be aligned with everything we do. For me that means building products that create and capture value across all affected stakeholders. Our goal should be to align economic incentives with people and our planet.
